3412 and 3434 Knight Street, Vancouver
7-unit rowhouse project proposed to be build in craftsman style with use of dormers, pitched roofs and columns. Each unit has 3 levels of living space, single car garage and outdoor area. Two of such areas are located at the rooftop which will maximize view potential for new residents.
The elements of the building are respectful to the neighbours, where these land-uses are expected to remain intact. For example the entire unit steps down to a two-storey element, consistent with the height of adjacent single family home.
The building massing has been substantively broken down visually by recesses, shifts in the massing to both lessen the visual impact on the pedestrian realm and create variation along the street.
7 of 9 ground-floor units have direct, separate access to the fronting street. These entries are clearly visible and identifiable from the street with entrances typically framed by a secondary roof element to announce its function clearly to the pedestrian passerby.
